Front seat cover common fitment issues and tipsUpdated a month ago
⚠️ Before you fit any front seat cover — airbag tag
Identify the driver and passenger covers by the white label on the inside of each cover. Make sure the driver cover is on the driver backrest and passenger cover is on the passenger backrest.
"I can't feed the cushion cover through the gap behind the seat — it feels stuck / I'm worried I'll damage it"
- Make sure you are fitting the cushion before you fit the backrest.
- Recline the seat as far forward as possible - this opens up the gap between the backrest and base (the "h-point") that the back of the cover needs to pass through.
- If there is a carpet flap covering the back of the h-point - you will need to reach under the seat and gently unclip it.
- Do not pull from the velcro to work the cover through. Hold the fabric itself securely and finesse it through the gap a little at a time.
- Once through, gently push or pull the cover the rest of the way over the cushion, aligning it to the seat's contours.
"The velcro straps are too short to reach under the seat"
- First, complete the recline-forward step above to get the cover positioned and through the h-point gap.
- Then raise the seat to its highest position — this is what gives you the room to reach underneath and connect the velcro to its male/female counterpart or the carpet.
- Route the strap above any wiring, airbags, heating elements, or seat-motor components — never underneath or through them.
- If you are trying to get side to side Velcro (which runs across the seat, not front to back) then you may need to gently push the Velcro between the plastic casing and the seat cushion. Once through you will be able to work it under the seat and connect the two sides.
"The headrest cover is very tight and I'm worried it'll tear"
Headrest covers are supposed to be a snug fit — but there's a limit. Be careful not to force or over-stretch the cover.
For neoprene, turn it inside out, line up the seams, and roll it down slowly rather than pulling.
For canvas, pull the cover on carefully following the seams.
If it still won't go on without significant force after this, stop and reach out to us and we will be able to guide you on the next steps.
"There's a plastic clip or hook near my seat that I can't figure out how to attach"
Some seats have an additional J-clip attachment point separate from the main velcro straps, used to secure the cover more firmly.
Reach into the gap between the plastic shroud and the seat and place the J-clip between the seat and the plastic - just underneath the lip on the inside.
This should hold in place when you release it, and will help keep the tension on your front seat cover.
